Costa Rica Las Lajas Cascara – Coffee Cherry Tea
Costa Rica Las Lajas Cascara – Coffee Cherry Tea
CASCARA - NOT COFFEE!
Perla Negra Natural Coffee Cherry Tea
Aside from our Double Diamond Kenia SL28, this cascara from Finca Las Lajas Cascara is also grown by Oscar and Francisca Chacón in San José Province at an altitude ranging from 1,300 to 1,500 meters above the sea level. “Cascara” means “shell” in Spanish and is the hull/husk of the coffee cherry. Once a poular drink in the Yemen called Quishr, for many years these husks were discarded or used as fertilizer, but due to its unique flavor profile and rich antioxidant properties, cascara coffee has grown in popularity in recent years. After a brief EU wide sales ban due to bureaucratic issues, cascara is back to stay, also thanks to years of lobbying by Uschi Zimmermann from Goldkind Kaffee.
